The nights are drawing in, the weather’s getting colder… and we’re ready for fall/winter trends for 2019! Here’s the latest news in interior design – with our favorite recommendations for this season.
Deep jewel tones
Earlier in the year, 2019 was all about lively green and soft blush pink. Spring and summer colors, in fact. Now, designers are turning to deeper, richer tones to warm up your home or office space. Think peacock blue, midnight blue, bottle green, and royal reds and purples.
Matte black furniture and cabinets
Lately, we’ve seen a lot of bright metals for kitchen designs and appliances: copper, stainless steel, and even gold. Now things are swinging in the opposite direction. The latest fashion for furniture design is smooth matte black.
At this time of year, you just want to snuggle up in some cozy layers – and we’re seeing that reflected in interior design. Layer soft rugs over flooring and carpets, and hang thick curtains over your windows.
Dark accent walls
Accent walls have been fashionable for a long time. However, they tend to be dominated by bright colors that catch the eye. Now we’re seeing a more subtle version of this style, with muted dark colors. Try accent walls in those jewel colors we mentioned earlier, dark grey, or a small touch of matte black.
Finally, we’re seeing the Brutalist school undergo a revival in architecture and design circles. These stark sculptures and industrial materials aren’t to everyone’s taste – but they have a powerful, modern vibe. We like Brutalist designs for office spaces where you want to make an impact, or as an eye-catching contrast to softer home décor.
